Video Health Services for Samoa
I’m back into another telehealth project. Counties Manukau Health have contracted me 2-3 days a week to establish video consultations between clinicians in Samoa and their counterparts at Middlemore Hospital. Its based on a comprehensive set of recommendations by Dr Carl Eagleton of CMH who spent time in Samoa last year.
The first consults should be running from Samoa's National Hospital in Apia in October, with a whole lot more to follow and potential expansion to other Pacific Islands.
CMH sends a lot of specialists to the Islands under a deal managed by MFAT using foreign aid funding. The Aussies work closely with the Samoans as well.
It’s a great gig which I’m enjoying. A bit disappointing to be out of Whakatane so much, but the outcome will be well worth the effort.
